Food stamps are actually supported by both Republicans and Democrats and are really nothing more than subsidies to the farming industry.

For those that don't know, the farming industry is well beyond the local farmer, it is the John Deere's, Dow Chemicals, and HEB's of the world.

So, people, it is not as simple as poor vs. wealthy. It never is, and that is what is wrong with this President and the Democratic party.

He gives a State of the Union address that leaves out just how complex our economy is and tries to sell his idea that if we tax the rich, everything will be ok.

Keyrose, you talk about moving jobs overseas, again a much more complex topic than just moving for lower wages.

Example, large company opens manufacturing plant in China. Why, to get market penetration for their product. Then through analysis they determine they can make product there (utilizing capacity and efficency models) and ship back to the US, maybe as a 100% complete product, or an assembly used to complete a product. And in doing so, they may reduce cost of that product or assembly. It is cheaper to have the plant closer to the sales point in most cases, and China has a huge market for American goods, as do most emerging economies. Complex, yes.

The only way to solve the foodstamp issue is with jobs. But that is not something the government can fix. How do I know this, pretty simple really. What president, or congress wants high unemployment. NONE do. So, if they can fix it, why do we have high unemployment? The government cannot create long term job growth. Only the private sector can do that. The government can only kill jobs through regulation, and excessive taxation.

But you say through subsidies the government can create jobs (like I spoke of earlier). But the reality is that subsidies are nothing more than the government trying to pick and chose winners based on political expediency.

Get government out of the private sector as much as possible (we still need regulation) and you will see the economy return to a constant growth economy.
