Yes that is what is being told to the media . If this happened to Joe Blow nothing would have transpired out of this . By all means if the doc was negligent he should hang ! My analogy is MJ took that risk . This should be a civil suit not criminal . Countless times docs are careless in a hospital environment do you see prisons full of docs? Rick, you missed the point. Being aware of the dangers & waiving that is one thing. But a doctor cannot get a patient to waive his/her standard of care. The guy left the room & was on the phone for almost an hour, when he was supposed to be monitoring MJ. THAT is why he is facing criminal charges.

Aware or not, signed waivers or not, the doctor's duty to take care of his patient was not waived. This isn't a case of whoops, my hand slipped. The doctor left MJ alone while he was under, when that medication requires constant monitoring. It's a shame that MJ surrounded himself with nothing but yes men & broke off contact with anyone who tried to warn him (Deepak Chopra, for example). The guy may have been a musical genius (see This is It, if you don't believe me) but he obviously didn't have the sense God gave a turnip.

Doctors do stupid things (like everybody else) and should be held accountable when they do stupid things.

Explaining to someone that you are about to kill them and then killing them is a circular and ridiculous defense.

Granted, MJ was an idiot for going to these lengths and keeping this company. Between MJ and Dr. Juice, there were 2 idiots in that room. But, as the licensed physician of the two, the Trinidad and Tobego guy should have known better.

I do think it's ridiculous that the LAPD doesn't want him to "surrender" and insists on the public spectacle of an arrest.

MJ gave the doc full control to administer the anesthesia type meds. When having surgery all the dangers are explained of possible death before administering anesthesia meds. A form is give to the patient to sign acknowledging the dangers . MJ without a doubt knew of these dangers. The media caused this frenzy but the doc will be vindicated .
