Runoffs Coming Next Month

When Tuesday's numbers were factored in, not much of a change was seen. Most of the race leaders lost a percentage point and it looks like we'll have a runoff in all of the most publicized contests in town.

County Judge Leaders
Valdez (I) 40%
Tijerina 38%

District Clerk Leaders
Degollado 36%
Palumbo 34%

Comm. Pct. 2 Leaders
Tijerina (I) 48%
Gutierrez 36%

Comm. Pct. 4 Leaders
Canales 46 %
Martinez (I) 40%

Judge 111th Leaders
Notzon 45%
Dominguez 28%

Commissioner Rosaura Tijerina was the one incumbent (I) that had a great showing. It looks like she's got this one in the bag.

Jaime Canales could pull out a win this time around. He's certainly been the more visible candidate. It was funny to hear Commissioner Martinez on the KGNS newscast joke about his opponent, "He had two buses out there; there was nobody in them! (looking to a supporter at his side and laughing) Right?"
The man is an imbecile.

But the one who should be really nervous is County Judge Danny Valdez. He got only 40% of the vote and his opponent is a mere two points behind him. I smell upset.

We are in for a long Spring.

It's all down to who gets their voters to the polls for the run-off.

Andy Reyes is sitting pretty knowing how powerful his endorsement will be to whichever candidate he gives it to should he do so

With so many runoff races, I think there won't be that many people staying home for the next round.

And yes, those who don't have a dog in this race anymore will be closely watched to see who they throw their support behind.

Pleas for support are probably taking place as we speak.
