For weeks, people knew that something heavy had gone down in Nuevo Laredo. Officials in our sister city denied it all, and our authorities kept it vague. But now our suspicions are verified, to some extent.
Pro8news got a hold of the 911 calls that flooded our local system that fateful night. A lot of people on our side of the border can be heard frantically making calls to 911 after hearing explosions and gunfire nearby. I remember getting home that evening and my wife asking me if I had heard the loud boom. I hadn't, but I did notice a lot of police cars heading towards the Azteca neighborhood.
We might not have photographic, or video evidence of what transpired, but at least now we know that our minds weren't playing tricks on us.

I love the Tex Mex by the callers, but all starting very politely with "Sir".
Listening to those tapes made me realize that LPD & the Sheriff really are our first line of defense against the cartels. Everyone who made fun of Rick Flores for wanting bigger & better guns should be put on the front lines with LPD & the sheriff's office if, God forbid, they bring the fight here.
And of course people said "Sir." We may drive like gorillas on Spring Break, but dammit, we have manners! ;)

Nothing ever happens according to LMT. Did they report Los Zetas chasing the guy through Target a few years ago? No, but they have been telling us all about the 5th bridge.....Thanks to all Customs, BP, LPD, and Web County folks that keep the watch!

There is a story in the San Antonio Express News that was also picked up by the Drudge Report that a Mexican Military Helicopter was flying over the city of Zapata, Texas yesterday.
Obviously, the Mexican Military knew that they crossed the river and the dam and were in United States air space. Needless to say, this situation is getting worse everyday.
Expect the story to come out in the LMT in about two weeks or so.
there's actually several Mexican foot soldier military intrusions into the U.S. while in pursuit of Zetas. This will never make the news!
If the only thing between a Zeta with a machine gun & my house, or the house of any other Laredoan is the Mexican Army, I'm all for it. Face it: all we have to defend ourselves with is the LPD & Sheriff's office. Military back-up is miles away in San Antonio....where's our National Guard unit?
DG obtain a AR-15 or the preferred rifle of the Zetas , a AK-47 Cuerno de chivo ,with several 30 round mags . This is your first and only defense in a city where leaders are in denial of spillover and cartel violence !
I saw a crapload of tour buses heading to Nuevo Laredo Saturday. They must've missed the travel advisory memo. :/
