The mayor and a slew of city officials took to Bridge I to officially unveil the new canopies provided for pedestrians. It's too bad that not many people are traveling to Nuevo Laredo these days.
Nevertheless, walkers can now take advantage of shaded walkways, complete with lighting and misting features. The whole project cost approximately $906,000.

Are these contraptions bullet-proof?
Want to avoid getting hit by stray bullets on the way back.
Duck.
Doesn't the mayor look great?
Yeah he is saying "Come to N.Laredo all is safe "!
Bullet the blue sky.
This guy comes up to me
His face red like a rose on a thorn bush
Like all the colors of a royal flush
And he's peeling off those dollar bills
Slapping them down
One hundred, two hundred
Across the mud huts where the children sleep
Through the alleys of a quiet city street
You take the staircase to the first floor
Turn the key and slowly unlock the door
As a man breathes into a saxophone
And through the walls you hear the city groan
Outside is America
Outside is America
Ahh! U2, Great song. Although I liked (gasp) P.O.D.'s version better.
Great drum lick.
In the howling wind!
Comes a rattle and hum!
U2 references? Shocking...
So, how much did the blue bows cost?
___so, how many calendar years did it take to cover a "leetle" bridge ? . . .(when we started the Project, the Mayor had hair, his wife was skinney and the dog hadn't been "inbred" yet)
Meanwhile, the Zetas operate with impunity on both sides of the border!
But look at the nice fluffy bows!
I thought it was a prized cow in the middle of the bridge. Guess who the cow is?
Now we can't jump off the bridge into the river all action-movie style when bullets start a flying. XD
Prized cow?
No way!
Just un Burro!
what a joke. the concept is good but the canopy is a security issue. need more security guards or Laredo Police on that bridge.
Also the Sheriff's Office to round up the stray cow!
