city council will now decide on whether or not they might share the
responsibilities of repairs
I thought that was not even an issue up for debate -- using city money to pay for a private company's expenses.
Also, a status report on El Portal will be discussed. And the mayor wants to see about banning texting while driving.
Hey mayor, how 'bout banning cell phone use altogether?

Would that included ALL the Police Officers using cell phones while on patrol?
Yes, cell phones need to stay home for cops.
Really? Again with this? Looking at Laredoans "barrigas", I don't see how this is a bad thing. As for the El Portal, I'm gonna avoid it like the "dumb drunk chick" at a party.
I think it's a simple matter of Johnny Rendon getting swamped with calls from bus riders having to walk farther now, even though I doubt there's much he can do about he'll attempt to appear like he's doing something.
The mall made a business decision, and I don't think the taxpayer's are gonna subsidize El Metro more than they already do.
Subsidize El Metro?
It is more like the Taxpayer subsidizing Mall Del Norte. They are a Private Entity, they should fix their own streets. Unless, the city decides to buy the Mall in order to fix the streets, and I would not put it past our current council to do soemthing like that.
Bernman - I agree, the Mall should fix their own streets, and to save costs on that if they want to make the business decision to ban city buses they have every right to do so.
But, if Council does go ahead with this unfair boondoggle, it'll come out of El Metro's budget, which was my point that we subsidize them alot (as almost if not all communities do).
