Wawi Notes

County Commissioner Rosaura Tijerina has been pushing her campaign pamphlet that includes a list of "accomplishments." Let's go over some of them.

Three balanced budgets with no tax increase
This is a popular one with many local elected talking heads. Webb Co. did slash the budgets of many departments. No mention is made of a salary decrease for commissioners.
Secondary water source
Really? Where? I must've missed that memo.
Renewable energy projects
She doesn't specify on that one. She just mentions renewable energy projects. (see secondary water source)
5th international bridge
Oh yes, the invisible 5th international bridge. It's the same one that Sarah Palin can see from her back yard.
Improvements to the Webb County Golf Course
Haha. They fired the old guy at the golf course and the new guys pruned some trees.
Lobbied to get Loop 20/Cuatro Vientos completed
Lobbied--maybe. Successful--No. It took our state representatives going to Austin at the last minute to beg for this project.
Brought back dignity and mutaul respect to the commissioners court
Yeah, whatever. When Sergio Martinez threw a five-dollar bill at Delia Perales, Ms. Tijerina can be heard laughing; Not one of her finer moments, but neither is this pamphlet she's hawking.

You gotta hand it to politicians. They'll take credit for anything.

Delia Perales getting a $5 bill thrown at her like if she were a bailadora. Man, she should be used to it. She is a County Dinosaur or a fixture that will never leave.

Well there is a change of atmosphere and structure at the now truly "municipal" Golf Course. No more 4am poker games, no more fights, no more indecency, and you can actually see some of the flags. But this change was made by the whole court not just one. Great blog by the way....really enjoy it!
