I'm sorry, I didn't get the memo that said that life is supposed to be fair.

Agree, life ain't fair. Sucks the system in Mexico is inadequate, and it's sad because it'll penalize the kids but the parents should be educated and/or reminded that paying federal taxes has nothing to do with property taxes.
District should offer an amnesty program - come clean and begin paying out of district fees, and past fees will not be charged. Or, wait until kid is caught and be presented a bill for estiamted past fees or kid is expelled until past fees are paid and veried residence is proven.
But, school administrators are in a bind because if they strictly enforce the residency requirements, down goes the all-important attendance numbers.
"Yo trabajo, vivo en Mexico y mis hijos estudio aqui, somos Americanos no veo lo malo porque no pago impuestos."
He says, “I work here, live in Mexico, and my child who was born in the United States goes to school here. I don’t see the problem with that because I pay federal taxes.”
I agree that they should pay an out-of-district fee but it would have to be something reasonable. Let me just throw a number out there: $1 per day of school.
I assume that these students will eventually graduate and contribute to the tax base.
I would think that it would be difficult to know the actual number of students who go to school here but don't reside here.
I would have to look for a study of ESL students' graduation rates and their lives after high school.
Why go so far? Just look at their parents. I bet a bunch of them were educated here and reside in Mexico, while working here.
On the translation, I took it he said "no lo veo malo porque YO pago impuestos".
KeyRose - define "reasonable" OOD fee? $20 a month would result in a flood of OOD students, meaning more schools to build. Where are they gonna ge tthe money to pay for that? $20 a month won't cover even the incremental operating costs of educating one kid, much less contribute to the Capital costs of space.
Agree it would be difficult to police, but they have to make a better effort. Hell, the KGNS cameras got several just in one afternoon.
School taxes are based on property taxes. If you don't live in the district, they go nuts in Houston. They are worried about outlying towns because the larger districts get larger shares of the state/federal cash. The have to approve enrollment rolls.
By the way, I think you will find that memeo imbedded in some pro-healthcare give away fairness arguments/rants recently......
Let's look at the logic here. Ilegals from Mexico go back! Built a fence to keep them out. Now muslims you are welcomed here run all the hotels, convience stores serve in the military reap the profits to kill more US citizens and cause more terror . I see why now ilegal Mexicans are more dangerous!

Help my out with this translation:

___wonder what percentage of the 2.000 Hini vacine went to Mexican citizens . . .
As I have said before both districts are the best Nuevo Laredo has.
